For Michigan Supreme Court, Republicans nominated Michael Warren and Casandra Morse-Bills. Democrats nominated Megan Kathleen Cavanagh and Noah P. Hood. The U.S. Taxpayers Party nominated Jody White and Thomas W. Howe. All six active candidates are listed below.

This guide: 45 contests, 103 candidates.
Every displayed contest includes its complete active candidate field. The guide covers all Supreme Court and Court of Appeals contests and selected local races in 23 counties. It reports published support; it is not an official ballot or an exhaustive list of endorsements.

Which judicial races
cover your community?

A court’s election district tells you who votes for its judges. Court of Appeals districts are different from congressional districts and local district courts.

Michigan Court of Appeals

Each county belongs to one of four election districts. The district number identifies a group of counties that elects judges to the Court of Appeals.

Check the area beside each race. A local district court may cover an entire county or just named cities and townships.

Court of Appeals election boundaries: Michigan law, MCL 600.302, checked October 11, 2026. The map shows election geography, not which court should hear a case.

Oakland County is a useful example.

Oakland voters share Court of Appeals District 2 with Genesee and Macomb. The 47th District Court race is for voters in Farmington and Farmington Hills; the 51st District Court race is for Waterford Township. A county filter can therefore show local races that are not on your ballot. 47th District Court geography · 51st District Court

Party support and
the nonpartisan ballot

A party endorsement does not establish personal party affiliation

A nomination selects a party’s Supreme Court candidates. A county-party endorsement records that committee’s support. A party-published candidate slate identifies candidates promoted by the party without necessarily documenting a formal endorsement vote. A club PAC endorsement represents that PAC. A voter-guide recommendation records the publisher’s stated choice. Advocacy and labor endorsements identify the organization’s support and are not converted into party labels. These labels do not describe a candidate’s personal beliefs or party membership.

These entries link to support published by the organization or its affiliated council publication. Campaign-reported endorsements appear separately and are attributed to the campaign. A neutral candidate directory, an event appearance or the identity of the governor who appointed a judge does not establish party support. Genesee’s “Meet The GOP Candidates” slate is a party promotion of the named candidates; its mismatched outbound links do not change those names.

Incumbent means the candidate already holds that judicial office

The badge refers to the office in this contest. A judge seeking a seat on a different court is not an incumbent for that race. “Incumbent position” and “nonincumbent position” are the state’s names for separate ballot contests; an incumbent-position race can include a challenger. Compare candidates within the same contest.

A county filter cannot identify your exact ballot

Some courts serve several counties; others serve only certain cities or townships. Michigan Courts explains that judicial candidates appear on the nonpartisan ballot. Follow the instructions for each contest and confirm your races using the official Michigan sample-ballot lookup.

Candidate names, active status, terms and positions come from the Michigan Bureau of Elections’ November candidate report. The report establishes the candidate field, not party support. This edition does not assess write-in candidacies.

Sources and verification

Support links appear beside each candidate. The source register identifies the issuing organizations; court links identify the geography. Campaign website and Facebook links for the four Republican- and Democratic-nominated Supreme Court candidates were checked October 11, 2026. These links lead to campaign material and do not add an endorsement to the record. Candidate photographs link to their campaign or party source. Images help identify candidates and do not establish an endorsement. Names follow the official candidate report, even when a party guide uses a shortened name.

The state report contains 258 active judicial candidates across 169 contests, checked October 12, 2026. This edition displays 103 candidates in 45 complete contest fields. Support is attributed to the issuing organization; campaign reports are labeled separately. Endorsements can change after the source’s verification date. A blank support record does not establish that a candidate has no endorsements.
